Burning Man, or Mud Man. My 14th (and possibly last) year. I fear the whole thing is becoming too much like Disneyland. There used to be so much more than rages and parties.

Zagreb, Croatia

Zagreb is the capital of the new Croatia. Pingo and Branka have a very nice apartment in the city. I guess I'm a small town boy. Zagreb was the least interesting part of our adventure. We did go to Kumrovec, the birthplace of Marshal Tito. While there still are some residents of the town, on the whole it's a recreation of the town as it would have been when Tito lived there.

Sibenik, Croatia

Sibenik is just a short drive north from Split. It's the closest city to the Krka National Park. At the center of the park is a large natural lake fed by a series of cascades and waterfalls. There is a series of boardwalks that takes you down the the lake, where you can swim. We spent the day there, and then pushed up to the city of Zadar.

Just a walk up from downtown Heredia. What a beautiful little town! One of the oldest in Costa Rica. The patron saint of the town is Saint Bartholomew. There is a large church which was established between 1568 and 1575. Every year on August 24, the people of the town have a celebration dedicated to the saint, and the highlight of the celebration is the unique masquerade, where people go out wearing masks and hit others with pig and cow bladders. Remind me to stay away on that day!
