Yesterday I finally went White Water Rafting. We went to Rio Pacure and had a GREAT time. Well, perhaps I'm a bit sore and sunburned, but what the hell...I'm an old man!

We spent 4 hours or so on the water. Most of the others that were on this trip were teachers from Arizona. The experience started out with a bit of training for us neophytes. The basic commands "forward", "back", "down", "stop". (Which can be fun trying to hear when you're a ways from the commander, in a noisy river and hearing it all with a Spanish accent. I'm still sure he was saying "left" every time he wanted us to stop… But nobody died. We had a couple of crashes and lost a shipmate at one point, but our rescue training kicked in and we got her back ok.

I took my camera in order to take some pics, but during all the exciting, interesting times I was a bit busy doing other things (paddling like hell).

Wednesday we plan to walk to Cartago. More about that later. We'll see if we can get these tired old bones on the street for the walk.

Happy Mother's Day!
