In Costa Rica August 15 is celebrated as Independence day. During the day school students take to the streets with dancing, marching bands and drill teams. We have heard the practicing all week long.

This morning we got up and went to town to see what there was to see. We only got as far as San Pedro before we found the streets blocked off and filled with school children and spectators.

Then we went downtown to see what was there. Again, bands in the streets, however not as much as in San Pedro.

Grabbed lunch and headed out to the park. There's ALWAYS things going on at the park on festival days...well...USUALLY I guess. Today...nada.

Every time I go out on the streets to see a festival it brings tears to my eyes to see this community come together. Thousands of people! All of one heart. All celebrating with their whole heart. Proud of their culture and their history.

I've decided I need to believe in reincarnation. I've just missed too much. There is just too much more to explore and understand. It can't be done in only one lifetime. God wouldn't be that cruel..

These people really love their country. I do too...
