Searching for
Processions

After having experienced the great spectacle (again) of the Cartago Good Friday Procession I wanted to see what San Jose would do with Easter. I also wanted to go back to Cartago and see what (if?) they had. I was unable to get any information about Cartago so at 9:30 I was sitting in the La Iglesia Merced watching things being set up for a procession that the paper said would begin at 10 and go to the cathedral. Sitting in my pew I was approached by an odd question. First time anyone ever asked ME..."Habla Ingles?" Turned out it was a woman from Ethiopia who was in town for a couple of days before going on the the University for Peace, where she would be a student. She had a picture of the inside of the Basilica in Cartago and wanted to know where it was. So...I gave her the whole story. This was a short procession, the journey is only about 8 blocks. By most standards a small procession, but worth the journey. I still wonder what was happening in Cartago, I assume something. Perhaps next year...if I'm still here...I'll just go and find out. Seems that's how you learn about most things here. Sort of like Einstein..."This SHOULD be true, so let's just pretend it is and see what happens..."
